This Salamander Fountain is iconic of the park and is located between the stairways immediately inside the gates to the park. Behind it lies a concealed cistern with a capacity of 2,600 gallons of water. Rainwater was channeled into the collector and stored to irrigate the barren parkland.
Park Guell is a public Park situated on the hill of El Carmel in the Grácia district of Barcelona. Created by Guadí between 1900 and 1914 the complex of towers, galleries, pavilions and decorative landscaping contains many of his typical architectural stylings - organic buildings and root-like supports, colourful mosaics and elaborate ornate roofs. Gaudí lived in one of the Parks two houses from from 1906 until his death in 1926.
