This façade is oriented to the west and represents the passion and death of Jesus Christ. It contains scupltures by Josep Subirachs who decided to sculpt the scenes in his own cubist style instead of trying to emulate Gaudí.
La Sagrada Familia, a large Roman Catholic basilica is the final, and most ambitious, of the buildings designed by Antoni Gaudí. Construction began in the 1880s and Gaudí worked on the project for over 40 years, devoting the last 15 years of his life entirely to it.Since 1940 other architects have carried on the work and sculptures by J. Busquets and Josep Subirachs are now part of the basilica. When completed the structure will have 18 towers representing in ascending order of height the 12 Apostles, the four Evangelists, the Virgin Mary and, tallest of all, Jesus Christ. The church will have three façades - the Nativity (eastern) façade, the Glory façade (yet to be completed), and the Passion (western) façade. I hope to return to see it completed but Ill have to wait a while as its expected to be 2026 at the earliest.
